Psychiatric Services I Provide in Coral Gables, Miami, and Throughout Florida
Many therapy patients feel like a number when they undergo treatment. With others, you may feel rushed through your appointment.
However, that is not how I work.
When you and your child partner with me for in-person psychiatry treatment or online therapy/psychiatric treatment in Florida, you become a part of the family at My Family Psychiatry, and I treat you that way. I take my time to genuinely understand your child and what is causing their distressing emotions and behaviors. At each appointment, we’ll address all of your concerns without a time limit. You want answers and effective treatment options. And that’s what you’ll get.
Together, we’ll determine the most effective treatment protocol to help your child overcome their challenges and reach their full potential using one or more of the following services:
-
Psychiatric Evaluations in Coral Gables and the Miami Area
Typically, I provide psychiatric evaluations both in Coral Gables at my office and via telehealth. Psychiatric evaluations are essential in assessing your child’s mental health state and provide a more accurate picture of their symptoms.
After completing the required questionnaires about your child’s symptoms, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, we will meet for your child or young adult’s first visit, ranging from 50-75 minutes. Together, we’ll discuss my findings based on your answers, and I’ll recommend suggested therapy options, which may include medication management.
To ensure your child receives the best possible care, I will collaborate extensively with any clinical social workers, psychologists, and neuropsychologists in your child’s life to accurately determine diagnostic and treatment needs.
-
Medication Management
Not every patient can benefit from medication management through their psychiatric treatment with me. In fact, some psychiatric conditions can improve with therapy alone. However, medications can be a powerful and necessary tool to treat many mental health conditions.
If, during our psychiatric treatment sessions, I believe your child could benefit from medication, I will discuss this with you as the parent or caregiver.
Your child or young adult will receive an explicitly tailored medication plan, considering their objectives, medical history, and preferences. Considering your child’s diagnosis, current symptoms, and potential side effects, your child will receive the option best suited to their needs.
When medication is part of your child’s treatment plan, they will be expected to attend a follow-up appointment within one to four weeks following the initial prescription. This ensures your child’s positive response and allows for adjustments if necessary.
-
Therapy
Therapy provides a safe space where your child or young adult can examine their thoughts, emotions, and actions. They’ll learn new, healthier ways to handle everyday stressors and symptoms that disrupt their lives.
Your child will benefit from my extensive training and experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults. We’ll quickly develop a positive, supportive therapeutic relationship built on trust, understanding, and skilled guidance.
-
Florida Telehealth
Dr. Parker offers convenient Telehealth appointments for children, adolescents, and young adults living in Florida. These appointments are conducted via Zoom and are appropriate for both medication management as well as therapy patients.
